Thank you for supporting Billy’s Battalion. We’re here to help raise awareness of paediatric DIPG brain cancer and funds for the UK DIPG research charity Abbie’s Army.

Billy died of DIPG on Easter Sunday, 31st March 2024, after a brutal five-month battle post-diagnosis.

Billy’s Bash – A Family Funday

When: Saturday, 26th April
Where: Cobham Free School, Main School, KT11 1TF
Time: 2pm – 7pm

There will be wandering superheroes, a Spider-Man dance class, LIVE music and entertainment from Action Theatre, magician Andy Boughtflower and headlining are the totally awesome Rock of The Pops – bringing all those 90s dance classics to life!

There will be licensed bars, food and drink stalls, sweets, cupcakes, crafts, games and SO much much!

Please bring cash for activities and donations.
Limited parking is available onsite, with additional parking nearby at Waterford Cl, Cobham KT11 1BG.

Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma affects around 40 children a year in the UK. At the moment, there is no cure and no proven treatments for DIPG. Abbie’s Army is committed to raising funds and, with the support and advice of Scientific Advisors, commissioning or contributing to high-quality and innovative medical research to find a cure for DIPG. Adam Bagley’s Billy the Brave comic, inspired by Billy’s incredible courage during his battle with DIPG brain cancer, has been nominated for a ComicScene Award for Best Charity Comic! Billy’s comic is up against big hitters like DUI and Shift It. It’s a Billy vs Goliath situation!

This nomination is already a huge win, but taking home the award would be monumental. It’s not just about Billy’s story—it’s about shining a light on DIPG and the impact of paediatric brain cancer.

What is DIPG

Diffuse:

means that the tumour is not well-contained or localised. Instead, it infiltrates and spreads throughout the surrounding tissue, with cancer cells intermingling with healthy cells.

Intrinsic:

means the tumour originates from within the pons area of the brainstem, growing throughout it cannot be removed

Pontine:

Pontine indicates the location of the tumour is in the pons, a part of the brainstem that controls vital for life functions such as breathing, sleep, bladder control, and balance.

Glioma:

is a broad term used for tumours that arise from glial cells. These cells are found throughout the brain, forming the white matter that surrounds and supports the neurons responsible for transmitting signals.
